Automatic quenching of high energy γ-ray sources by synchrotron photons
We investigate a magnetized plasma in which injected high energy gammarays annihilate on a soft photon field, that is provided by the synchrotron radiation of the created pairs. For a very wide range of magnetic fields, this process involves gamma-rays between 0.3GeV and 30TeV. We derive a simple dynamical system for this process, analyze its stability to runaway production of soft photons and ...
متن کاملAGNs and microquasars as high energy γ-ray sources
The microquasar phenomenon has grown in prominence recently, as it has been found that most X-ray binaries show radio emission, associated with jets collimated beams of relativistic plasma. The ejection takes place in a bipolar way perpendicular to the accretion disk associated with the compact star, a black hole or a neutron star. The word microquasar itself was chosen by the analogy of these ...
متن کاملPrompt High Energy γ-Ray Emission From the Synchrotron Self-Compton Process in the Reverse Shocks of γ-Ray Bursts
In the standard scenario of the fireball model of gamma-ray bursts(GRBs), the huge initial energy release produces a relativistic blast wave expanding into the external medium and a reverse shock moving into and heating the fireball ejecta. We calculate the high energy gamma-ray emission due to inverse Compton scattering of the synchrotron photons from relativistic electrons in the reverse shoc...
متن کاملDouble Pair Production by Ultra High Energy Cosmic Ray Photons
Using CompHEP package we’ve made the detailed estimate of the influence of double ee pair production (DPP) by photons on the propagation of ultra high energy electromagnetic (EM) cascade. We show that in the models in which cosmic ray photons energy reaches few×103 EeV refined DPP analysis may lead to substantial difference in predicted photon spectrum compared to previous rough estimates.
متن کاملHigh energy particles from γ-ray bursts
A review is presented of the fireball model of γ-ray bursts (GRBs), and of the production in GRB fireballs of high energy protons and neutrinos. Constraints imposed on the model by recent afterglow observations, which support the association of GRB and ultra-high energy cosmic-ray (UHECR) sources, are discussed. Predictions of the GRB model for UHECR production, which can be tested with planned...
